My last Visa run for a new Taiwanese Visa was to Tokyo. Thankfully this time I got an extendable Visa as I am now registered on a course at Kaohsiung University to study Mandarin. This means it’ll be at least three months before I have to do another run. Hopefully I can register on another course before this one is up and extend the Visa for four months
For anyone else thinking of doing the Tokyo run, here are photos of the Journey from the train station to the Visa office so you can easily find your way there:
Take the JR line on the subway to Meguro station, I’m sure I took the West exit - although I could be wrong and the photo is not clear, just take the exit with the view in the following photo
You are heading along ‘Meguro-Dori’ in the direction shown below (along the road with the 40KM sign)
Continue heading long Meguro-Dori and you will pass underneath a motorway fly-over, and then past a park on your left.
Soon after the park you’ll reach an information board, you should turn left at this corner.
The turn is opposite a building called ‘The Garden”, and you’ll be able see the see the road sign shown below at the crossing.
Continue along this sideroad for a few hundred metres and you’ll find the Visa building on the left.

How long does it take to process?
As far as I remember, so long as you apply before 11am, you can pick it up the next afternoon at 4pm (something like that).
I used to live for a long time in Meguro and Shiroganedai which is near the Taiwanese “Embassy” in Tokyo. I stumbled onto this website and photos. Thanks for a great nostalgic look at the walk from Meguro Station to nearly my home.
